What is Aikido?
Aikido is a con-competitive, non-confrontational form of martial arts. Aikido is often translated as "the Way of unifying (with) life energy or as "the Way of harmonious spirit". Ueshiba's goal was to create an art that practitioners could use to defend themselves while also protecting their attacker from injury. About the Instructor: Ken Freiberg is a black belt in both Aikido and Japanese Jujitsu. He continues to study Aikido today under Sensei Greg O'Connor, 6th Dan and Chief Instructor of the Aikido Centers of New Jersey. Collectively Ken has been a student of Martial Arts for 25 years and has been instructing Aikido for the past 6 years at the Aikido Centers of New Jersey.
Thanks to Sensei O' Connor Ken has been fortunate enough to attend and train with some of the world's premier Aikido teachers at the ACNJ headquarters here in New Jersey. Additionally he has also traveled to various dojos up and down the east coast to attend classes and seminars offered by top Aikido teachers throughout the past decade.
"Aikido isn't something that you do "to" someone, rather it's something you do "with" someone" ... Ken Freiberg
